Description

A new era in Atlas suspension! The 9 Series FRS snowshoe uses a patent-pending Free-Rotating Suspension (FRS) for natural articulation of the foot over uneven and sidehill terrain with minimal resistance – providing the most comfortable, forgiving stride. FRS flexes the 6061 aluminum proprietary V-Frame with each step, giving the toe traction deeper purchase. The flexible Wrapp bindings tighten easily and cradle the foot securely. Even in the dead cold of winter, the Nytex decking is both flexible and durable. Whether you’re new to snowshoeing or looking for Atlas technology at a great value, the new 9 Series FRS is built to explore winter’s rolling terrain.

Great Snowshoes!

By Jesi

  • Very little kickback

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Elevation climbing
    • Long distances

Comments about Atlas 9 Series FRS Snowshoes:

I recently purchased these snowshoes for a hike that was 6.5 mile long/2200 ft elevation climb at about 12000 ft. These were perfect. I wore them with my snowboarding boots, and they fit in the bindings without any issues. I was concerned the boots would be too big and the bindings would come loose, but I didn't have to adjust the bindings at all, even with some very steep climbing. The 9 inch width was also great. Many of the other people on this trip had 8" by 25" snowshoes, and were having to battle sinking much further into the snow. There is very little kickback on these, which was also nice in powdery conditions. All around great snowshoes, I have zero complaints.

Comments about Atlas 9 Series FRS Snowshoes:

I was introduced to snowshoeing about 6 weeks ago by a friend who is a sponsored athlete. He asked me to go in a snowshoeing race with him at 10,000 ft. elevation here in Colorado. I had never even put on snowshoes before and in fact had never really even looked at a pair. He supplied the snowshoes for me and helped me put them on before the race. 10K-my choice-a little optimistic-but what the heck. I ran up and down a gentle slope a few times before the race, tried to get used to wearing oversized flip flops as I immediately thought of them, adjusted my straps, and lined up for the start of the race. After completing the 10K that day and likeing the initiation event, I went on a search for a pair of snowshoes on line and came across the CAMPSAVER web site. I saw a pair of Atlas 925's and bought them because they looked like I could run in them even though they were not classified specifically as running or race snowshoes. No worries as it turns out. They are great. I have been running in them about 8 times since I bought them, doing about 5 miles per run. Awesome times and a great workout on hilly terrain. I know these shoes to be slightly heavier than running ones but great for training. Oh, I hear you can actually walk in snowshoes but I have never tried. They remain in the trunk of my car for any opportunity I get to use them. I could not be happier with their performance but could be happier with mine.

        A:

You can normally use regular winter boots for these snowshoes. The binding system is essentially universal.

      • A:

The product specs do not mention needing special boots to use the snowshoes, and the bindings are built in, meaning that no additional bindings need to be purchased.

        A:

Yes, the bindings are very adjustable. If you are using a smaller women's shoe I would suggest the Elektra 9 series.

These have a smaller binding and the tails are cut for a woman's gait.
