Comments about Ace 48 Pack (2900 cu in):

I have an Osprey pack that I really like so I looked at theirs first when I needed a backpack for my 12-year old daughter and my soon to be a Boy Scout son. We would use it on hikes up to a 5-day AT backpacking trip.

I like this pack because it is big enough to hold the amount of gear / weight that a 10-13 year old should carry (using the 25% rule). It has enough and the right kind of pockets, a place for a hydration pack, and an attached pack cover. One thing that was a nice surprise is the pockets on the hip belt pooch out at the bottom so that they are actually useable as pockets, even when wearing the pack.

Assuming it holds up like my Osprey--the construction looks fine--I think this will be the kids intro pack for my daughter as well as my younger sons and daughters.

Comments about Ace 48 Pack (2900 cu in):

This is a great backpack that is built and designed to grow with a boy. My 10 year old is a little small for his age and other backpacks are just uncomfortable hiking with over time. This one adjusts to fit his body and as he grows it has the ability to grow with him. There are so many ways to personalize the fit that you can tailor make it to fit his proportions. Then the best part is as he grows then the pack has the ability to grow and change to fit his new size. When he outgrows this one we can change it to fit his little bro. Ingenious design

Nice pack and just what my 9 year old needs to start out. Much lighter than the previous Gregory that my daughter used, but not as light as her new Exxos 58!!
