Comments about Beartooth BDry Hiking Boot - Men's:
Used the boots on a 4-day trip in White Mtns of NH in July. Boots gave superb support and protection in rocky terrain. Even at 215lbs with 45 pound pack, had no issues with comfort and support. Only exception was they made my feet hot and sweaty.
- Feels true to size
- Feels true to width
- Iffy traction
Comments about Oboz Beartooth BDry Hiking Boot - Men's:
I tried on a pair of Wind Rivers at a local store, but when I read other reviews, it looked like the Beartooth's were the ones to own for heavy-duty backpacking. Since I'm prepping for a 10-day backpacking trip this summer, I opted for the Beartooths, and so far, I'm pleased.
When I put them on the first time, I was a bit nervous -- these boots were stiff! I took a couple short walks with them without anything on my back, and they really seemed to bind around my ankles -- not a good sign, or so I thought. But a funny thing happened the first time I put a load on my back. Just like that, I forgot all about the boots. They settled right in and got to work, and supported my feet really well for the duration of my prep hike.
I've been out a couple more times since then, and about the only thing I'm not thrilled with so far is the traction in wet conditions. I'm sure it's got something to do with the materials used in the sole, but you'll want to watch yourself on wet rocks.
Bottom line: I really like these boots so far. Hopefully, they'll hang with me for years to come.
