We just finished a 1200 mile backpack on the Appalachian Trail. With two dogs we had to use a Big Agnes Ultra-lite 3 man tent which weighed 3.5 pounds. We slept in shelters a lot, so it bothered me every day when I'd put the tent (it's weight) in my pack. This new tent, with all the stakes etc., is only two pounds, and much smaller packed up. We just used it on a 90 mile hike through Montana's Bob Marshall Wilderness and it is just what we wanted. Big enough to squeeze in my wife and I, plus our dogs. For two people, it is lighter than the tarp/bivy combo used by many ultra-lighters. It does get condensation sometimes, but it is a small price to pay since the ceiling is relatively high, the walls straight up, and the extraordinary light weight.

You can use rear pole on outside which makes the interior space huge for a less than 2 lb. tent

Great little tent ideal for one person and gear or two people with small amounts of gear. Bought for my lightweight 13 year old son who likes to hike with poles - set up just before a thunderstorm with high winds and all dry and comfortable afterwards. No vestibule for gear stowage or cooking in poor weather is only major disadvantage, gear can be stowed inside but could be crowded.
