have used the SteriPen on several trips and have yet to reach for the Imodium. The only down fall is battery life becomes severely shortened in cold weather rendering this product as an inconvenient battery holder. Keep the batteries in pants pocket and they will easily last for a 3 nighter during frost conditions. Bring backup water treatment just in case.

I bought this to use during my backpacking and for some others. Looking at the picture, it looked compact but in reality, it was bigger than I thought. Normal alkaline battries are not recommended for this and rechargeable battries with something like over 2000mAh is recommended. This kind of ruined my purpose to use this unit not just for recreational but during the business trip to some countires with not so good water supplies. Otherwise, it looks good, feels good on your hand and very easy and stright to use.
