I hike in high elevations on weekends. Usually I'll go ten to fifteen miles in a day. This pack lets me carry everything I need for a safe and comfortable day trip. I use it with the strappettes which are sold separately. if you do a lot of day hiking you should look at this pack. I really like the size of it.

I purchased my first Mountainsmith Day Pack 25 years ago. The color was heritage red. Wherever I went, working, traveling, hiking, camping, it was always with me. I could wear it on my shoulder, back, or just carry it in hand. It was extremely useful for carrying light gear. Finally, after all those years of constant use, it was time to give it away and purchase a new one.

Last month I replaced my original day pack with the Mountainsmith TLS. It's the same as my first pack but this one has room for a travel laptop. In addition, I love the new secure side bottle pockets. I am thrilled with my new pinon green pack. It comfortably carries all my essentials for school, work, hiking, or traveling. Thanks, Mountainsmith!

Used in the field during Ethnographic excursions. Like the all round fit of the lumbar pack and the pocket locations of both water and sml.mesh pockets on the belt, large enough to carry what I need, but small enough not to over load. The Strapettes Harness is a worth while investment when carrying water in both pockets,32oz.Nalgene bottles fit very well,also 32oz military canteens.
