Comments about Gregory Deva 70 Women's Pack (4272 cu in):

I used the Deva 70 backpacking with my husband in GNP, MT for 4 days/3 nights in September. Comfort: I really liked the APS system. It was highly adjustable for various fits, which is good since the belt wore sore spots on my hip bones. Adjustments to the shoulder straps to elevate the hipbelt alleviated the problem. Another pro: the hipbelt is removable, so you can purchase one that fits. Adjusting the load a little higher lead to some minor instability, which was easily fixed with adjusting stability straps. Durability: Not only did the pack survive airport luggage check handling, but it also endured throwing it around campsites and rocky mountain ledges at rest stops. Color: One of my favorite features: color. The color (seneca rock) seemed to blend in with the mountain backdrop, which not only lended to pretty, natural photos, but also probably apeased other backcountry travelers, who appreciated not having their view obscured by obnoxious colors dotting the landscape. Storage con: Although the 70 had front/top access and lots of storage pockets, including my favorite angled water bottle pocket for easy access, I was disappointed my 0 degree down sleeping bag didn't fit in the bottom storage pouch. I had to exchange sleeping bags with my husband, who had a smaller summer bag, which did fit. Overall, I'm glad Gregory considered fit and practicality for a great woman's pack.

It's a very comfortable bag to wear, lots of padding.
Make sure you try it on in store to get the right size, and then buy it online.. that's what I did.
        The back support feels great.

I am using this pack to go on a 7-week trek in South America, and it is perfect! The spacious main compartment, lots of smaller ones, and comfortable too! It was difficult to find a pack that fit my small frame (5'2"), but this one is great!

            Q:

How does the top loading part of the pack become a separate bag (as I have read in other posts it has been said to become a day pack/sling bag)? Haven't been able to figure that one out. Thanks for your help!

The pack lid is what comes off to become a lumbar/day pack.
