Comments about EarlyLight Tent - 2 Person, 3 Season:

I've only used this tent a couple of times, so I can't comment on the durability yet.

It is very waterproof, and has good ventilation. With two people, I haven't had issues with condensation even in a rainstorm at 40F.

This is an excellent price for a well-made tent with a lot of good features. The construction quality is very good. Of course, there are compromises to hit this price, the biggest of which is using polyester fabric instead of nylon. And of course don't expect silicone coating at this price. But the included poles are high-quality, and the pegs/stakes are actually pretty sturdy, and reasonably light. The stuff sacks leave a lot to be desired though - just sewn fabric ties, no drawstrings or cord pulls.

I like this tent better than Marmot's LimeLight or TrailLight because it has enough solid material to provide privacy if not camping alone, but there is enough mesh to not be hot. The vents in the fly are very effective, and I like the two vestibules and doors to make getting in and out easy for two people, and storing gear out of the weather. I really like the double-wide pole clips. They distribute the pole tension to the fabric better than narrower clips used on other tents (including Marmot), which should help the durability and strength.

I added reflective guy lines to all corners, which helps the stability. But the fly needs to attach to the poles with more than just one Velcro loop at each corner to really support the tent in moderate wind. I added loops of elastic cord to stake out the tie-outs on the two short sides of the fly, which keeps them tight and away from the tent without deforming the frame or fly (I got the idea from Terra Nova tents).

This tent is a bit on the narrow side for me, which is typical of 2-person tents attempting to be light weight. You could fit one 25" wide and one standard 20" wide pad, but two 25" wide pads won't fit. The foot end is quite narrow if you want to store much clothing or gear inside the tent. But there are just enough storage pockets inside, and the included gear loft is handy to illuminate the tent or dry something out.

All in all, this is the best deal on a tent I can think of. I am very happy with my purchase.

Comments about EarlyLight Tent - 2 Person, 3 Season:

The price is AMAZING for something so darn good.
        Love this tent.
You can use it with just the tent, or just the fly alone. Set up very easy, even in the dark during a good rain! Nice to be able to set up the fly first in the rain, than the tent under its cover. Well vented.
We used this tent almost every night during our 71 day bicycle tour through Europe, late Sept. into early Nov. It kept us warm and dry through near gale winds and rain in Ireland, and Scotland, and warm through very heavy frost in France. It has since been on many other camping trips, and is still going strong.
The only improvement I can think of is to give the fly a bit of an overhang at the vestibule doors, (yes, there are two) though no rain ever got in, we worried about it.
The only thing I didn't like was the bright orange color, so we just bought the same tent in green.
We explored other tents before we got our new green one, but this one is the same size, or a bit bigger, and includes the footprint, and the Gear Loft, which the others don't and they cost more... Go figure!

Comments about EarlyLight Tent - 2 Person, 3 Season:

It is a good tent, rather light and well built. Apses are small, and with a moderate wind, they have a tendancy to touch the internal tent. The presence of two doors is really practical in the use. Good ventilation, and good resistance in the rain. This tent is not made to face moderate or strong winds. I improved the resistance in the wind by adding cords to all the angles, by attaching poles to their point of crossing, and by putting a cord which leaves this point of crossing up to the ground (on both sides) to strengthen the rigidity, and avoid that the wind sticks the cloth of the apse on the internal tent. In this case, we can consider that winds of 60 mph can be faced without breaking poles. Just buy 5 or 6 yards of 3mm cord, and 6 aluminium pegs (V or Y shaped), and you'll feel really safer!

        About Marmot

In April 1971, Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley were in Alaska's Juneau Icefield where the idea of a Marmot Club began. The name 'Marmot' refers to a group of highly social, large ground squirrels that live in mountainous areas. To become a Marmot, you had to climb a glaciated peak with another Marmot. That summer and over the next two years, Eric and Dave began making prototypes of down products in their dorm room in addition to establishing the Marmot Club. Marmot has grown quite a bit, but one thing has never changed: the commitment to designing the highest quality performance product. Marmot has become widely recognized as one of the premier outdoor gear and clothing brands in the world today.
