These are some great shoes for kicking around the crag. The rubber is super grippy, and they can be easily slipped on for those days when you're switching back and forth from climbing and belaying. I wouldn't recommend using them for a particularly arduous approach, but they're just fine if you have a decent trail.

I would recommend sizing down slightly from what you wear in a 5.10 climbing shoe. I have a pair of size 9.5 Hornets that fit very tightly, and ordered the same size in the Tennies. If I was to do it again, I would order the Tennies in a 9. It wasn't enough to warrant sending them back, but a half size smaller would have been perfect.

I was a little worried about the color (red), but they are an awesome looking shoe! I've ran in them a couple times, but then I decided I didn't want to wear the sticky rubber out too fast, so now I use them as my all around kicks. Great for hiking, scrambling, and I've done a few easy climbs (5.8-5.9) in them. Not as aggressive as the guide, but more comfortable.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I got these at CampSaver for [$]. For the price, they are 5 star shoes. Wore them for a week in Yosemite and they did everything I needed. The rubber sticks extremely well to rock, the stiff sole helped with small edges. Did fine on two-hour approach hikes with no fatigue. I like that the laces go down almost to the toes. My feet didn't get too sweaty.Sizing is true to size, but with qualifications. I wear a 10.5 in running shoes and bought these in a 10.5 hoping they would be a little snug. They were bouldering tight. I returned them for an 11. CampSaver return policy was AWESOME, as return shipping was FREE. In an 11, they were snug enough to keep my toes in place, but comfortable enough to hike. I did not have problems with the insole slipping.My first pair of size 11's were defective: a bubble of unglued sole on one side. Again, CampSaver returns were fast, easy and FREE. They shipping a new pair out to me as soon as I sent the return tracking info. The new pair held up fine.The stiff sole would probably make them good for biking, but I would not try them for anything else.At [$], I'm very happy. At full price, there may be better options.
