Plan to take this tent on a thru-hike of the AT this year. Plenty of room for mom and two teen girls. Easy enough for a kid to set up.

Received new tent & pitched in back yard with several stakes to familiarize with assembly. Went inside for 20 minutes (my mistake). Tent disappeared in 12mph winds. Tent lept my pickett fence, and one pole was caught between 2 pickets in neighbor's fence. Even though the poles are very light, they seem mysteriously strong (no damage at all; must be made of unobtanium). The fly, however received 7 or so very small holes & 2 small scrapes through the material (it is VERY thin material). Sent my 1 day-old fly to BA. They graciously stitched & patched most of the holes in my fly for around $50 (incl ship both ways). They stitched over the small holes & then put patches over BOTH sides of the holes (excellent job BA!). I will patch the 2 small ones they missed (not worth the shipping to send it back again). BA was nice enough to sell me a new replacement fly as a spare for around $150 (think I am going to need it later). BA was very quick to repair & ship. I am all set to try this thing out now. I like 2-pole X-style configurations, so I was worried about the complexity of this pole system. It turned out to be essently 1 mass of poles that are connected & hinged in several locations and was easier than I thought to assemble once you discover which end the poles go to (the 2 Y-shaped or wishbone shaped pole sections are similar in size). I searched many ultralight tent databases for the lightest freestanding tent with a simple pole configuration that was long enough so head & feet don't touch the ends & wide enough to accommodate 2 25"-wide large sleeping pads with a few inches to spare. This is it! If someone is looking for an ultralight with these attributes, look no further. If cost and/or abrasion resistance is needed, you might want to look at a heavier & less expensive option. One note is that, even though the fly is very thin, the rip-stop did it's job and kept the damage contained to very small holes & abrasions. I do not recommend this tent for car camping for several reasons: weight is not an issue for car camping so why pay extra for ultralight materials, many car camp pads are made of gravel & will probably damage the floor and/or optional footpint unless you use Tyvek or HEAVY tarp material under the tent. If camping in anything more than a slight breeze, don't leave the tent empty & unattended unless you use longer screw-type stakes. I have not used the tent in the rain yet, but the seams are all excellently sealed & taped, so I don't think rain will be an issue. Enjoy!

I took this new tent on a hunting trip. The hike to our camp was quite tough, so I really appreciated that this tent added so little to the weight of my backpack. This was the first time I took the tent out of its bag, but it was so easy and intuitive to raise it that it took only a few minutes. During our stay, the weather got really bad with wind and heavy rain. The conditions inside this tent stayed dry and comfortable all the time. Very impressing for this lightweight construction. I have become very fond of this tent and are looking forward to the next trips.
