This jacket kept me dry through the hurricane - I live 30 ft. from ocean and it performed well - I would suggest that you might want to get a large if you usually wear medium and want to layer beneath the jacket

I have it with me anywhere there is even a remote chance of rain. Anything from normal daily use to long treks. Usually doesn't leave my car or my pack. It zips into its own pocket. I will say that I was in severe weather for a really long time and it didn't keep me 100% dry, but I don't think anything could've kept me 100% dry in the conditions I'm referring to. Also has full two-way side zips that allow you to turn it into a full poncho or act as normal pit zips to release unwanted heat. Overall you can't go wrong with OR. They're products are made by people that think outside the box. If my memory serves me right they also come with lifetime warranties.One last thing. I got this on sale last year for [$] so it was a serious steal. Goodluck finding a Paclite Goretex jacket of this quality for that price.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
