I purchased this for day hikes in the TN area, but was able to test on the Mount of the Holy Cross in CO...a true 14'er. This is a 8-hr roundtrip hike and the pack proved perfectly suited. It's just the right size to carry extra layers and food, as well as holding trekking poles on dedicated loops. The only thing that could be improved is internal storage compression/stacking and protection on the bottom of the pack. I found myself being careful when sitting on rocks to make sure i didn't scrap the thin bottom layer. No issues, but I could see that being snagged and ripped fairly easily. Overall, great pack and should serve me well for many years/hikes.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
