Description

The Big Agnes Heart Mountain SL Sleeping Bag is filled with light, compressible 800 fill goose down and weighs only 2 lbs. Like all Big Agnes sleeping bags, the Heart Mountain has an integrated pad sleeve so you never roll of your pad again. Removing the insulation on the bottom also reduces weight since compressed down has no insulating effect. We recommend the Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Pad for use with the Heart Mountain sleeping bag.

Details

  • Integrated full pad sleeve. Never roll off your pad again
  • Rectangular shape offers more room in foot box and shoulders
  • Recycled mesh storage sack & nylon stuff sack included
  • Built in pillow pockets holds a fleece or Big Agnes pillow
  • Interior fabric loops for sleeping bag liners
  • 70"YKK #8 zipper. Mate together our left and right zip bags with same size zipper
  • No-draft collar seals around neck to keep cold air from sneaking in
  • No-draft wedge insulates the connection between the bag and the pad
  • No-draft zipper tube insulated along the length of the zipper
  • Shell Fabric: Pertex Quantum rip-stop nylon. Featherweight, high thread-count fabric that is soft as silk with a small packing volume. WR surface treatment to repel water
  • Lining: Nylon taffeta
  • Flow™ Construction: Insotect Flow™ is a flow-optimized insulation system that delivers uniform heat distribution and natural body contouring through its revolutionary baffle design. Flow Construction eliminates lateral and vertical down shifting by using vertical chambers with Flow Gates to regulate fill positioning and density. Strategically placed Flow Gates minimize vertical down shifting while vertical chambers minimize lateral shifting. With continuous vertical Flow chambers in place of traditional side seams, Flow bags eliminate potential cold spots which can occur with side seams. Vertical baffles now flow with your body for more rapid and uniform body heat distribution.
  • LEFT OR RIGHT ZIPPER? When you are in the bag, on your back, the right zip will be on your right side, left zip on your left side

Technology Used In The Heart Mountain 30 SL Sleeping Bag (800 Down)

Baffled Construction

Baffles are chambers created between the outer shell and inner liner of a sleeping bag or jacket. These chambers hold the insulation and create an even distribution, preventing unwanted grouping of insulation. There are different types of baffles. A "stitched-through" baffle joins the outer shell and inner liner together by means of direct stitching. Heat loss through seams is a disadvantage of the stitched through baffle. Optimal warmth is achieved through the use of a "box wall" style baffle. This method uses additional material between the outer and inner materials to create a wall that unites the two layers and creates a slightly larger and more uniform baffle. Different variations on the box wall positioning create a variety of advanced baffle systems.

Down Insulation

Water foul, like geese and duck, actually provide one of the most efficient forms of insulation available. Down is the light, fluffy undercoating at the base of the feathers of waterfowl. Down is a multi-dimensional structure that insulates by creating pockets of still air that retain body heat. Down is highly breathable and exceptionally comfortable. It is longer lasting and much more compressible than synthetic insulation. A disadvantage of down insulation is its loss of efficiency in wet conditions. It will also take much longer to dry than a synthetic insulation. Down is available in different fill powers. Fill power is defined by the amount of loft that is gained under loft test conditions. The higher the fill power number the greater the loft and the greater the performance of the down insulation. Fill powers may range from 500 fill to 900+ fill power.
