I first used this product in Alaska as I had another brand and my buddy had this one. In saving weight we took this Katadyn as I was curious to compare. This filter really worked and worked efficiently! It had not problem with the silt rich water in the Chugach mountains! I have also used this in Uganda and on several camping trips around the nation (TN and OH). Nice product. I would recommend this. I am confident drinking water that has been filtered by Katadyn. Oh, I sold my old filter and bought the Hiker Pro.

Pros: bomber, filter lasts a long time

Cons: a bit bulky

I've been using this filter for years and recently had to purchase a new one due to an individual stealing my original. Having said that I had at least 200 liters of water through my first one and it still was going strong. I couldn't recommend it enough.

I've had this filter now for a few years. Here are the things I don't like:
* If you ever get sand in the threads between the filter core and housing, you'll never get it out without washing it *thoroughly*. The oil holds the sand grains on there well.
* If you're filling bottles by yourself, using this filter gets to be a little bit of a circus as you use both your hands to pump, use your body to direct the intake hose, and pray that output hose doesn't knock your bottle over. (See non circus in pros)

Things that I like:
* Fairly light, durable filter.
* Water tastes good after filtering. :)
* This came with an attachment to hook straight into my Camelback. This made it super easy to fill without the circus mentioned earlier with bottles. :)
* The flow rate is pretty good. When I get going I can fill a 2L bottle in a matter of seconds. During a recent hike, I was even filling bottles for other people not in my party.
* Fairly easy to grip and pump
