I bought this jacket as an extra warmth layer for skiing and general mountaineering. The cut is snug, so it will keep you warm and not balloon out much bodyheat. The hood fits nicely and allows good visibilty. I haven't tried it with a helment.

The other intended use is as a sleeping bag enhancer, but I haven't tried that yet. It should add a lot of warmth while the slippery fabric should make it easy to move around in the bag.

The material is tough enough to ski with. I took some big falls with long icy slides - no damage. However, I'd want another layer over it to protect against rock.

For those with experience with earlier models of the Mountain Hardware Compressor jackets, it seems just a little tighter across the back.
