I use this pad for backpacking; it's the most comfortable pad I've ever tried. I found out during a blizzard on Mt. Whitney that it insulates well and is durable. Deflating and compressing takes some work, but what pad doesn't.

Camped on the PCT at Warner Springs, CA in January. Temp got down to upper 20s. Drops of ice in my tent where I spilled a little water. This pad, coupled with my 20F bag, kept me cozy all night, especially where it counted, insulating my back from the cold ground. I especially appreciated the non-slip surface as I was set up on a slight incline. Drawbacks: 1)weight & bulk BUT, this is a COLD WEATHER pad so you GAIN warmth when you ACCEPT added weight & bulk 2) Takes a few deep breaths to blow it up but this is only because I am spoiled by self-inflating pads that don't offer this much warmth. I don't like missing sleep due to freezing my tail off, so, for me, this is THE best choice for a chiily winter camping pad.

Great pad...PERIOD. Warm, easy to inflate, stays inflated, non slip, fits in my Big A sleeping bag in cut out so you never come off this pad...its a part of the sleeping system. Its expensive but worth it.
