Description

Packed with MSR's latest technologies, the Lightning Axis snowshoes represent a giant leap in snowshoeing performance, ease and comfort. First, our new Axis™ Gait Efficiency system allows you to laterally adjust bindings independently of the frame, ensuring efficient, parallel-tracking snowshoes, regardless of natural toe-out and toe-in stances. In addition, new SpeedLock™ bindings offer set-it and forget-it simplicity with all-terrain comfort, while new Ergo™ Televators save you on the steeps. And of course, you get the benefit of our most aggressive, 360° Traction™ frames and Modular Flotation tails to provide you with the confidence and versatility you want to enjoy broad range of snowshoeing experiences.

Details

  • Unrivaled Traction: 360° Traction frames and Pivot™ crampons deliver advanced, edge-to-edge grip, delivering unmatched traction and security on any terrain in any conditions.
  • Axis Gait Efficiency: World’s first bilateral binding adjustment neutralizes variances in natural foot positions to ensure an efficient, parallel stride.
  • SpeedLock Comfort: Set it and forget it, glove-friendly adjustment and comfort, plus an optional, included strap for maximum security on challenging terrain.
  • All-Condition Adaptability: Modular Flotation tails allow you the maneuverability of a smaller, primary snowshoe with the added, on-demand flotation of optional, 5-inch (13-cm) tails.
  • Uphill Efficiency: Ergo Televators reduce fatigue and increase traction on the steeps, with a new, ergonomic design that engages with a simply flick of a pole grip.

      Comments about Lightning Axis Snowshoes:

Just received these snowshoes today it took two days from when i made the order. My first impressions are that they are great bindings (it took me about 10 minutes to get them adjusted) and a burly frame. The decking material is much lighter weight than other snowshoe's i have used; they're so light that i question their durability. We'll see how well they hold up after a few trips. Overall I'm extremely satisfied with the snowshoes and CampSaver.com's service.

      Comments about Lightning Axis Snowshoes:

These are a great set of snowshoes. The traction provided by both the crampons and the frame is excellent. They are very lightweight and the heel lifters are really a life saver on steep uphill sections. They are also quite comfortable to wear and are not at all awkward to move in. The one downside is that I found the binding system a little tough to figure out at first but once I got used to it it was easy and fast.

        Q:

I'm interested to know if the section forward of the foot is the same length on the 25 and 30 inch shoes. The reason for the question is that I own the 25 inch shoes and removable tales. While the tails provide additional floatation, by providing lift at the back, they change the angle of the shoe to the snow, driving the toe down which is dangerous downhill. This suggests that longer shoes need more floatation both forward and behind the foot, not behind only.

I'd buy the 30's if they are designed to maintain the same angle to the snow by having a longer front platform than the 25's. the 25's measure about 17 1/2 cm from the bottom of the front frame to the V in the toe cleat when hte cleat is flat. The thirtys should have a measurement of 21 cm measuring in the same location to keep the same relative flotation between toes and tails of the shoe. Can anyone measure the 30's and tell me what that measurement is?

        Thank you.

          A:

Let me start by saying that the binding length is the same on both sizes. Measuring from the top of the binding to the toe on the 30 you get about 9.5 inches which is longer than binding to toe on the 25 (7 inches). The 30 also has a longer section from the heel of the binding to the end by about 3 inches.
