Use this rope for climbing rock and ice. Very light awesome rope that is bright and very easy to see. 9.7 is the perfect in between of strength and weight. Would buy this again if anything were to happen to this rope.

Comments about 9.7 mm Lightning Pro Rope:

I really like my Lightning Pro for how easily it handles and how light it is in the pack. I should mention that I also got a 50m version, which makes it fit super easily into the rope bag which was designed for 70m ropes. Also, it's so bright that you'd have to be blind not to see it.
The big con and safety concern is that it's very stretchy. This is a concern if you're toproping as you will easily get 6 feet of stretch out of it. It is also a concern because there is a possibility (I haven't had this happen yet) for you to be clipping the second bolt, fall, and because of the stretch, actually hit the ground. Of course, the possibility of decking while clipping the second bolt is always an issue, but the stretch in this rope adds to it slightly. Granted, it would take a lot of momentum out of your fall if you touched because of stretch, but still...

That being said, this is a nice, cheap rope. Since I'm such a thrifty spender, and because I feel that most ropes aren't worth $200, I'd probably buy this again. I feel that a rope is supposed to keep you from falling to the ground, and this rope certainly does that well.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
