Used recently with my Boy Scout troop. Lightweight and easy to use. I like that you can clean it in the field. Unlike filters with disposable elements, you don't need to carry spares for when the boys dip the pickup tube in the muck and clog the filter. You can simply scrub it clean, boil it, and you are ready to go again.

I have a Steripen as well (which I use for international business travel), but the pump removes the taste from the water as well, so I much prefer it for backpacking.

Only complaint is that a friend's different pump has a better pickup pre-filter so it is less susceptible to debris in the water.

I have used MSR Miniworks for over 10 years on 5 to 10 day backpacking trips in the High Sierras of Northern California and the Cascades of Washington. I find it easy to pack in and out and very simple to clean. It pumps a quart of water in just a few minute. You may have to clean it after you have pumped several quarts of H2O but it only takes a couple minutes to clean and put it back together and it is ready to go again. In fact, I have 2 MSR filters that I take in on trips, one for me and the other my backpacing partner. The other option of boiling water then waiting for it to cool down just takes toooooooo LONG.
