This is technically a nicer (better insulation, polyester instead of nylon, and lighter) jacket than the Mountain Hardware Thermostatic, but I ended up keeping the MH jacket for three very superficial reasons:

1) I like the hand-warmer pockets in the MH. The Patagonia pockets are lined with satiny polyester.

2) I found the light balsamic color kind of gross. It's not as "eggplant" as it looks in the product photos; it's a bit more dark dusty rose or really washed-out eggplant.

3) The fit was not as flattering. I have a 5'10" 36-27-38 figure and chose a medium and there was lots of room, just not in a good way. The MH measures the same in most every way (length, sleeves, etc) it just hangs better.

Hey - I told you they were superficial reasons! Bottom line: I'd love to try a small in another color, probably just black.
