I bought this pad to use for backpacking as well as adventure motorcycle trips. It's compact size makes it easy to pack and it's very comfortable, too. This is a great sleeping pad.

I bought the large and found it adequate for a 6'3" 200 lbs body frame. I think a 27" or 30" width instead of it's 25" width would have been absolute perfection for me. It's definitely expensive but worth the price if you want lightweight comfort in a small package. I've only used it on a cot thus far for a couple of weeks and found it just as comfortable as a bed. It's a little bit noisy. Sounds like a paper bag rustling when you turn over on it so it's not very tactical if that matters. It took a little time to inflate and deflate but was not a major issue for me. I would recommend this to anyone seeking a good night's sleep while camping and hiking. It's nice to have after a long hard day.

I use this for mountaineering trips. It works great on glaciers and snow fields to keep out the cold while easing the load I have to carry. It would be a better pad for my use if it had a shape similar to the Pro Lite because it would give more foot room inside my bivvy bag plus reduce the weight even more. If you never use a bivvy bag, the rectangular shape is no problem. After a long day at altitude, it can be a bit daunting to blow this thing up. It takes a considerable amount of air to fully inflate and you'll get no help from the innards like self inflating pads do but that's the price of light weight. The inflation bag isn't much help either. It's pretty small in terms of air volume delivererd per squeeze and can be frustrating to use. If you're counting grams, the bag blowy uppy thingy isn't worth lugging a few thousand vertical since you come equipped naturally with an air pump. Some of you clever folks might be able to figure out other uses besides an air pump and place to stuff the pad to make it worth the weight.

I've not had occasion to make use of the repair kit but if you need one, it's included. The outer pad material seems fairly stout so unless there are sharp pokey things right under the mattress or you have a knife fight with your tent mate, ordinary precautions should be enough to keep holiness at bay. If the worst does happen and you lose all that air blown into the pad, this thing is really thin and you'll be able to tell what species of bug is crawling beneath what was a mattress. Got a hole but no patch kit? Luckily this mattress has heat reflective stuff inside so even though it isn't comfy anymore, there's still a little insulation value so it won't be totally horrible. Maybe 85% horrible. I tried it out deflated on some frozen concrete and it was pretty cool but not nearly as bad as merely lying on a tent ground cloth without the deflated mattress. With no air inside, it's just like one of those mylar emergency survival blankets.

This mattress is is thicker than a camp rest and it's more comfortable. It's also a lot lighter and takes up far less space but it does make some noise when you move around. If you don't mind a rectangular shape and some considerable blowing, this could be the right mattress for you.
