The Patagonia Houdini Pants, weighing in at a scant 3.1 ounces, block wind, and their deceptively strong 100% nylon ripstop fabric has a Deluge DWR (durable water repellent) finish that sheds light rain. Snap closures on the lower cuffs allow for easy on/off over shoes, and reflective logos sit above the left knee and on the rear pocket. When the storm passes you can stuff the Houdini back into its zippered rear pocket (with a reinforced carabiner clip loop).

I really like these pants. They are super light weight and keep the wind out. Repels light rain or mist with no issue. Because of the snap opening at the bottom of each leg, I can put them on over my shoes, which is convenient. The cinch tie and slight elastic band at the waist works well. The Houdini pant is my favorite to wear over shorts for protection and warmth. I have worn them for years, they are very comfortable, lightweight and durable. The design is simple and effective and great for high action fun.
I've been testing to determine JUST HOW water resistent they are. The answer is probably "not very", but certainly enough protection if the rain is light and you are not out too long.

A great pant for those looking for a UL option for wind pants.The fit is great and these would work well in cooler weather with a base layer on underneath.The only downside is the price.Try using a discount code when you get one and combine that with a sale price(rare) to save a few bucks.
