I pulled this out when it started pouring on me while hiking on top of a mountain. It kept my upper body completely dry. I was very happy hiking in it, and found it very breathable.

Really like the Precip by Marmot. The color I bought was not what I wanted, but it was on sale for under $70 through Campsaver, so that's why I got it. I do like the comfort of the jacket and its waterproofness, though I have yet to use it during significant downpours. The pit zips are great too. And the shell fits comfortably over several shirts or a shirt and a marmot fleece.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
