It was a replacement for my old and leaky Thermarest prolite 4. And it's much better then old, packs smaller, lighter and maybe two times warmer. I'm 5'11, pad is little bit short for me, but it's not a big problem for me.

I love this pad because as a 5'6'' female when i go backpacking I enjoy that it is lightweight and skinny, for such a high R vale (compared to other cheaper lightweight mats)

After a pretty thourough research of different pads, this one came out on top due to it's low weight and high R value for my excursions in Arizona and Colorado. It's significantly lighter than the men's (if you're counting oz.'s) and is warmer. The only thing you're giving up is a few inches of your feet hanging off the end, which hasn't bothered me in the least.

I bought it for myself about a year ago (I let my wife use it and sleep on my foam pad when she comes!) and although it's made for some jeering about my cute little purple pad it's been light and warm and that's all I care about.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
