I wear these every day on wood, carpet, asphalt, and trail. The sticky rubber sole will wear down quickly on asphalt/concrete. The upper will stretch to fit you perfectly in a couple of weeks, but eventually (9+ months) the soft mesh may develop wear spots (through the outer layer only) - this happened on my oldest pair after one year - the soles are worn but they are still effectively silent and sticky. Great for water resistance, not for snow. In temperate/warm climates they can't be beat. Sticky and silent, they are The Ninja Boots. I own several pairs b/c historically, when i find something that works, the manufacturer stops making it.

Was pleasantly surprised by these boots. For a while now I've been into the whole minimalist running shoe kick, and wanted a GTX hiking boot that followed the same philosophy. These boots offer the added support, rugged sole, and water proof qualities desired in a hiking boot, without the bulk, weight, and dramatic heel rise.

The narrower fit turned me off at first, but after a short break in, the performance oriented fit started to make sense for quick movements and speedy bursts.

If you like to run "barefoot" style, these hiking boots are for you. I can't wait to see the industry pick up this trend. Running in these doesn't even feel like you're wearing a boot.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
