        The biggest pros: comfy, warm, relatively inexpensive, makes for a very versatile sleep system.

        The biggest cons: the surface of the cover is slippery, it's bulky/heavy.

        With that said I own two sizes; a regular for use with a size regular Big Agnes Insulated Air Core inflatable pad and a large for use with my size large Thermarest Neoair. Both have proven to be very comfortable when sleeping on snow at temps down to 10 degrees F in my 10 degree sleeping bag.

        Setup and take down couldn't be easier. Initial setup is to roll out the Sleeping Giant, partially inflate the pad, slip the pad into the cover, zip the cover and finish inflating the pad. It adds all of 60 seconds to getting your bed ready. Take down is deflating the pad and rolling it all up as one unit. The Sleeping Giant cover has an integrated clip to keep the roll nice and tight.

        I would definitely recommend this to any friend or person I know.

        Technology Used In The Sleeping Giant Pad Upgrade Kit

        R-Value

        R-Value is a measurement of thermal resistance, or in other words, how well an insulator functions. A higher R-Value means more efficient insulation and a warmer product. For example, a highly insulated sleeping pad may have an R-Value of 5.7 or higher, making it good for four season use. An R-Value of 2 would indicate a much less efficient insulation and a sleeping pad that would be best for three season use.

        Foam Sleeping Pads

        Though self-inflating pads contain open cell foam, a foam sleeping pad is different in that it is composed of a closed cell foam that holds its form and will not expand or compress. Closed cell foam pads are very light weight and long lasting, but usually take up more space than a pad that can be rolled up and stored in a stuff sack. Some pads use a memory foam composition for added softness. Foam pads are typically less expensive and are not subject to punctures or leaks.
