Comments about Big Agnes Summit Park 15 Sleeping Bag (650 Down):

I can't say enough about this Big Agnes product. This sleeping bag is light durable and most of all very comfortable. If you are a bigger guy you will fall in love with the summit Park. This is almost like a double sleeping bag and the down allows it to be packed down to fit most sleeping bag compartments. Thumbs up

Comments about Summit Park 15 Sleeping Bag (650 Down):

So far have used this sleeping bag on a mild Southern California mid October evening in Angeles National Forest.

Paired it with a Big Agnes Q core sleeping pad. I initially started the evening out sleeping on top of it in a polyester bag liner. Woke up in the middle of the night a little chilly and rolled inside the bag and was comfortable the rest of the night.

When paired with the quality sleep pad it doesn't get much more comfortable than this. I am 6'3" 255 lbs, and cannot stand my feet being constricted. That is why I chose this bag.... it is wide for my shoulders, rectangular so my feet don't feel trapped, and stays in place when i turn inside it. I am a side sleeper and toss and turn alot at night, so I usually wake up with sore hips and shoulders and very tired. This did not happen with this bag. If you are a big guy looking for trail comfort and don't mind the little extra weight this is the way to go.

    A couple cons:
-It is heavier than most "backpacking" sleeping bags, however if you are a big enough guy to need this bag that extra pound probably won't matter much.
-It packs easily into its stuff sack but was too big to put in the bottom compartment of my pack. I ended up putting it in the main compartment where it occupied 30-40% of the main pocket. If I had used a compression sack it could have compressed much smaller. I just left it in the stuff sack that it came in and it still had some squishiness to it.

In short the pros far outweigh the cons.

Comments about Big Agnes Summit Park 15 Sleeping Bag (650 Down):

Great at night and even in the morning iwhen the sun begins to heat up the tent.

I had no problems and this sleeping bag is perfect for a big guy like me. I'm 6'2" and weight 240lbs and it was roomy.

It also works great with the Big Agnes sleep pads, which you should buy as well to complete the system.

    Questions & Answers

Q & A For The Big Agnes Summit Park 15 Sleeping Bag (650 Down)

Technology Used In The Summit Park 15 Sleeping Bag (650 Down)

    Baffled Construction

Baffles are chambers created between the outer shell and inner liner of a sleeping bag or jacket. These chambers hold the insulation and create an even distribution, preventing unwanted grouping of insulation. There are different types of baffles. A "stitched-through" baffle joins the outer shell and inner liner together by means of direct stitching. Heat loss through seams is a disadvantage of the stitched through baffle. Optimal warmth is achieved through the use of a "box wall" style baffle. This method uses additional material between the outer and inner materials to create a wall that unites the two layers and creates a slightly larger and more uniform baffle. Different variations on the box wall positioning create a variety of advanced baffle systems.

    Down Insulation

Water foul, like geese and duck, actually provide one of the most efficient forms of insulation available. Down is the light, fluffy undercoating at the base of the feathers of waterfowl. Down is a multi-dimensional structure that insulates by creating pockets of still air that retain body heat. Down is highly breathable and exceptionally comfortable. It is longer lasting and much more compressible than synthetic insulation. A disadvantage of down insulation is its loss of efficiency in wet conditions. It will also take much longer to dry than a synthetic insulation. Down is available in different fill powers. Fill power is defined by the amount of loft that is gained under loft test conditions. The higher the fill power number the greater the loft and the greater the performance of the down insulation. Fill powers may range from 500 fill to 900+ fill power.
