This jacket has been awesome, however it is a bit on the heavy side for backpacking ( approx 24 oz) It is very comfortable and warm however, and blocks wind extremely well. The hood is huge and covers very well. The pockets are a bit on the high side position-wise, and it feels as though you may tear something with keeping your hands in them, but I haven't yet. I highly recommend this coat for all cold weather activities which are not highly aerobic.
