Description

The Montane Torque 40 Backpack is designed for serious mountain climbs that demand a well-designed and constructed kit; functionality above all else is paramount and the Torque 40 exemplifies this. Developed in conjunction with leading British mountain guides and outdoor activists, the Torque 40 takes its lead from the Medusa 32, not only in its extra load carrying capacity but also in its technical and highly specified features.

The Torque 40 is designed to carry heavy climbing equipment to the base of a route and can compress down tightly when relatively empty. It works perfectly in conjunction with a technical climbing harness and is robust enough to cope with contact against abrasive rock surfaces. Most importantly, it is comfortable on long routes when dynamic climbing maneuvers are required.
  • Constructed from lightweight RAPTOR TL fabric in the main body which is tough yet exceptionally lightweight. Features a superb DWR and tear resistance

  • RAPTOR UTL ultra tough, lightweight panels on the bas, 'Dual Tool' area, upper front, top rear and rear sides for additional abrasion protection against rock surfaces

  • GRANITE STRETCH skirt lid side panels give a clean fabric hugging lid closure and additional storm protection with a sleek shape

  • Moulded MONTANE 'Comfort Back Pad' features channels that wick sweat and rainwater away from the body and give additional ventilation

  • 'VertErgo Climb' back system provides strength, support and comfort when carrying heavy loads. It can also be manipulated to fit the user's back for a specific tailored fit

  • Removable 'VertErgo Climb' panel helps reduce weight if extreme weight saving and minimalism is required

  • Features an HDPE stiffened panel across the top of the back panel which provides structure for top tension straps to torque off. Stiffened panel is scooped to allow for head and climbing helmet space

  • Two top shoulder tension straps allow the pack weight to pull close to the body and control the pack stability for the required terrain
  • Removable hip belt prevents interference with climbing harness belt and can be used as additional compression in the middle of the pack during long climbs. Two lightweight, tough and durable metal buckles release hip belt fro the pack

  • Includes a removable Bivvy mat that is folded lengthways, reducing crease lines and helping to eliminate cold spots as well as provide a larger sleeping area
  • Waterproof shell friendly 'CONTACT Mesh' on the shoulder straps and MONTANE 'Comfort Back Pad' facings prevent abrasion on shell clothing when the pack is full to capacity and with heavy use

  • Enhanced 'Dual Tool' reversed clean technical ice axe attachment system with tight locking compression straps to safely lock down axes when not in use. Ice axes can be reversed to an 'Alpine safe' position for increased safety when moving quickly or under tilted movement

  • Large top 'buddy pocket' for front access whilst on the move, perfect for storage of guide books etc. and large enough for the storage of an OS map

  • Large flap over buddy pocket to protect zip against upward abrasive movement over rock surfaces

  • Extendable top lid with compression straps for increased height to accommodate bulky rop coil, etc.

  • Chest harness with left hand clip prevents bulky buckles over the sternum and increases comfort with its low provile

  • Four symmetrical singel hand side pulls offer effective compression around pack contents and help provide additional stability

  • Stiffened front lid panel with lightweight glove and mitt friendly metal buckle that will also work in extremem cold and hostile conditions

  • Space saving efficient top lid front pull allowing for good vertical pack compression

  • Wide mouth central opening with 'Cord Lord' quick release mechanism

  • Extendable internal top sleeve for extra storm protection of contents with double compression on outside opening and internal sleeve opening with 'Cord Lord' quick release mechanism

  • Internal top compression over mouth opening for secure rope storage

  • Reversible mitt and glove friendly locking webbing buckles

  • Body curve hip fins for great comfort and strong stability when on the move whatever the terrain

  • Double tension waist harness for extra stability, pack weight equalization and ease of use while on the move

  • Internal security pocket featuring vertical upside down zippered entry preventing coing and key loss. Also features a key clip

  • Left and right hip gear loops for clipping spare hardware essentials whilst on the move

  • Front central webbing gear loop attachment point

  • Quality Nylon webbing used throughout for reliability over the pack's lifetime

  • H2O top right tube opening and internal bladder storage sleeve

  • Arm harness gear loops and H2O tube attachment

  • MONTANE custom made glove and mitt friendly zip pulls

  • Top load easy grab hauling handle

  • 360 'DUSK TILL DAWN' head torch reflectivity at lower rear of pack in optimum position
