I bought this for backpacking. It's definitely a little bulkier than I would've liked--I've seen inflatible pads that pack down to the size of a water bottle, but the smallest I can get this is a 1'x1' cylinder. However, I've had many comfortable nights sleep on this. It's about an inch and a half thick when fully inflated. I'd recommend it for a casual camper or backpacker who had a little extra room in their pack and who wanted a good nights sleep!

as soon as your tent is set-up set the therma-rest up so it can lay flat for a while. helps to keep you warm and had no problems with it.
