The Flintlock system on Black Diamond trekking poles is awesome. I was quickly able to adjust my poles on the fly moving down the trail while others would stop to adjust their poles. The grip design is outstanding. The lower portion of the grips makes for a quick transition to going up more technical ascents without having to adjust the pole length.

Having suffered a severe ankle sprain last year while backpacking, my Physcial Therapist reccommended using hiking poles. So I went on a search to find the best. These are it! The flick locks work great and are easy to change lengths without a lot of hassle that the twist locks have on other brands. The padding on the straps is nice and wide and very comfortable and goes over the whole strap whereas some are only on part of the strap. The foam handgrips are quite comfortable and have so far given me no blisters after hikes of more than 10 miles. I use these poles on an every other day basis as I have been doing approximately 6-8 miles of backpacking trying to get back into shape after my injury. So I've put quite a few miles on them in no time at all and they have held up very well. If you are looking for a hiking pole that's comfortable and easy to operate and offers great stability then buy these.

I like the collapsible nature of these poles. They are easy to pack in my one piece of checked luggage. When day packing they work well. I have not had them collapse at an inopportune time.
