I use this as a mess/storage tin in my survival pouch that goes with me every where either in my truck or in my ruck. I like the light weight and storage space inside to keep my emergency stuff in that I don't want getting wet or falling out of the pouch.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
