This is my 3rd UV-C purifier. 1st was an early gen. SteriPen. Issues with the operation which Steripen has corrected (electrodes not reading immersion under certain water conditions). 2nd was a mUV. Nice compact & very light, but the internal rechargeable & non-user replaceable battery no longer holds a charge. diy gravity/squeeze filter + chlorine dioxide tabs are my primary backpacking water purifying system. Purchased this unit for travel use. Why? Relatively compact, purifies vs. just filters water, uses AA, fits onto platy type of containers.

I have used a SteriPen Adventurer (same basic model as the Traveler) extensively in the field with excellent results. It is easy to use, lightweight, and truly sanitizes the water by disrupting the DNA of anything living in the water rendering it sterile. I recently decided to purchase a Traveler model after noticing a significant price drop. That unit only worked once before malfunctioning. The indicator light suggested the battery level was low regardless of the actual life of the batteries. It has since been returned [...]... surely it was a lemon.Overall it's a neat product, [...]

Used it to purify the water at restaurants, any water that didn't come out of a sealed bottle.
I like its size (fits in my purse), weight, and convenience. It kills viruses too.
