I bought this pack for my upcoming trip to South America after finding the female version at a local store. Overall, it's an amazing, well-designed pack that delivers the functionality of a mountaineering backpack without sacrificing the convenience you need for traveling.

It's got a boatload of features. The straps for the main backpack zip stylishly into the back of the pack so that if you wanted, you could carry the pack as you would a suitcase -- clips for a shoulder strap are included. There are newer versions of this pack out there, but the one I have includes very cleverly placed clips for the day pack straps that act as compression straps when the day pack is not attached to the main pack. The padded waist belt is very comfortable, and the compression straps inside the pack make for easy space-saving techniques.

It's spacious, it's light, and it's comfortable. The only thing keeping it from getting a full five stars is that the day pack is a little uncomfortable and doesn't include a waist belt. Other than that, I think this is going to be a fantastic and functional pack for my two-month journey abroad.
