Just returned from a month of several trips of camping on and around Mt Rainier: this pack is so amazing... it is so adjustable from day pack to three day treks, I am still learning how to fully use it... the most comfortable and best designed pack I have used in thirty years! I would add a zippered access to the lower main compartment, but honestly did not need it this trip.
Awesome! Will buy Gregory packs from CampSaver again!

This pack is incredible. It has all the right features. The design keeps it off your back so you don't get all hot and sweaty like you can with other packs. The side access into the main compartment is very handy, just be sure to pack the gear you think you might need along that side. It has a ton of pockets to stash food/rain gear/ect in. It fits comfortably and is highly adjustable with its tons of straps. I just bought the Z65 for my husband and I would also recommend it if you need a little more room. But the z55 is plenty big for me. I can fit my sleeping bag, a bivy tent, change of clothes, food, first aid kit, stove, a light jacket, and more in this bad boy. I've never tested it in the rain as of yet so I can't attest to its weatherproofing but the seams seem taped well. Long story short, I love it!

Wow, did not like this pack at first, but did not realize the extent of the good design until using for a couple of one day trips (4,000 climbs), then a one week trip in the Cascades (6,000 ft climb) in Washington: I am VERY impressed with this pack, and plan to buy a larger one for longer treks. Amazing versatility: have not found a limit to the different configurations that are possible yet!
