I've taken this jacket out on the trail a few times already and it has done very well. It breathes as well as my Gamma MX which is a softshell. I have the Large and it fits my 6'2 200lb frame very well.

This jacket is more coat than I needed; it's made for more than just a "walk in the park". I'm drawn to anything Marmot makes, because of my past experience with their jackets. This one is no exception! I love the idea of a waterproof softshell, as I walk out doors almost everyday as part of my exercise program. I thought this coat would cover a multitude of conditions, which it does. I just didn't count on such long sleeves (or my arms being too short!), and having such thick material that the cuff closures were so bunched up, as to be uncomfortable. I couldn't find a way to make them work for me, so I had to return the jacket. I'm really sorry it didn't work, because I wanted to love this coat, all winter long. Would I recommend it, yes. It just didn't work for me.

This is by far the best all-around hiking jacket. I also have several North Face jackets but this is my go-to jacket for serious hiking. Completely waterproof and breathable. The reflective strips are great for visibility when hiking with others. Lots of functional pockets within reach. Roomy enough to wear two layers inside. But it is warm by itself. Just superbly functional. Well worth the price.
