I had an old version of the Raven Pro which I really liked, but I lost it in Katahdin ascent this winter. New model looks and feels even better. Great job, Black Diamond! This is the 1st time i have bought a BD Ice Ax and was not dissapointed. it is super lightweight and very durable. The grip was very easy with heave gloves and cut into Ice like butter. Definitely will not go into the back country without this piece of gear
I've used this on Mount Adams in Washington State. It is super light and portable, saving vital weight with a winter setup. Has great purchase on the steeps when climbing, and is just long enough for my 6 foot frame to assist with glissading. Just be careful, cause this baby is sharp! Cut through my rain pants on a 1000 ft glissade...my fault.

Thank you for your question. You rest your arm at your side, then grip something similar, and measure to your ankle. That will be the proper length. If you are doing more steep stuff, a little shorter, if you are doing all flat travel, a little longer. Let us know if you have any additional questions.
