As a rule, Crux is very clear about what features a product should have. However, when it came to down jackets their resolve for minimalism and simplicity wavered. The original Halo jacket didn't have a hood and customers subjected them to a bit of criticism something they are not terribly accustomed to! (Of course they say that with their tongue-in-cheek). Consequently, they opted to introduce the Halo with a removable hood option where it could be removed if not needed, and the possibility of it being purchased with or without the hood. Of course, even though it's got a hood, they couldn't let the Hooded Halo have an inferior down quality or tear-prone fabric, so they kept the rest of the specs the same as the Halo. Like the Halo, this is an incredibly versatile piece, from evening hangouts in early spring or late fall, an insulation layer for summer alpine bivouacs, or outerwear when winter is still mild.
