In the high adrenaline world of the outdoors, you need a Men's Jackets that can stand up to anything it encounters. In 1966 Fjallraven's founder Ake Nordin decided to create an all-around versatile outdoor jacket that could do just that. The idea came to Ake to use a durable and multi-functional cotton canvas fabric after a failed expedition in Greenland revealed a need for better Outdoor Apparel. Originally this fabric was going to be used on their Tents but after realizing it was too heavy was rejected for lighter fabrics. However, Ake realized this as a potential candidate for a jacket. After testing the fabric in jacket form, they found that the only thing it lacked was the ability to repel water. Ake, recalled his memories as a boy using wax to waterproof his clothes for skiing and decided to use a blend of beeswax and paraffin to make the fabric waterproof. This innovative fabric, known as G-1000, has become a cornerstone to the production of Fjallraven apparel due to its durability, wind-proofing, breathability, UV-protection, mosquito resistance, and water-proofing (after applying the Fjallraven Wax).
