The safety of kids must be at the center point of ski touring. The proven Hagan Z02 binding is now available in an extra small Junior variant. A shorter sole length and a lowered DIN release range of 2-7 ensure a proper match for the weight, height, and skiing skills of youth ski tourers. The binding is the most essential part of a ski touring set for youth. The biggest issue is the release value. The release value for lightweight youth might need to be as low as 2 or 2.5. Up until now, this was essentially not possible. Therefore, we developed the Hagan Z02 Junior binding. The shorter frame length, a softer spring, shorter screws, and release values adjustable from 2 to 7 ensure that the Z02 is perfectly adaptable to the size, weight, and ability of youth ski tourers. The Z02 Junior fits boots with a sole length ranging from 225 to 280 mm. 225 mm fits boots from most manufacturers as small as Mondo size 17.5 or 18. Check the boot sole length (BSL) of your boots to ensure compatibility . The Z02 Junior comes with a ski leash. Ski brakes are also available in 97 mm, 107 mm, and 115 mm widths. Hagan ski crampons are available in 85 mm, 100 mm and 115 mm widths. The ski crampons are extremely easy to install and remove and are compatible with the Z01, Z02, and Z02 Junior bindings. Important Note: The Z02 Junior bindings are only compatible with Junior boots " not kids boots. The key difference being that the toe and heel lugs on the boots must be the same width and height as on adult boots, not the narrower and thinner toe and heel lugs found on kids boots. In the smaller sizes it can be difficult to find boots with adult size toe and heel lugs. We recommend determining availability of compatible boots before mounting the Z02 Junior bindings.
