Designed and manufactured in a renovated 1800’s textile mill in Biddeford, Maine, Hyperlite Mountain Gear has stayed closer to its roots than almost any outdoor gear company in the US.  And, to Hyperlite Mountain Gear it’s extremely important to stay close to home, as their home of Maine is filled with the kind of mountains, rivers, lakes, and forests that informs their passion of design and engineering and serves as a local test lab for their end product. 

Not only does the home grown location play a factor for Hyperlite Mountain Gear, but so does the perfection of design and high end fabric used.  It was Mike St. Pierre who founded Hyperlite Mountain Gear on a drive to find the exact fabric he wanted for his ultralight backpacking trips – that really made Hyperlite Mountain Gear that it is today.  He found a fiber call Cuben, and started to experiment and perfect exactly what he was looking for, and Hyperlite Mountain Gear was born.
