I was debating on whether I should get gtx or leather lined hiking boots, so glad I choose the leather lining! They mold to my feet perfectly, smell great and are very water resistant when treated properly per Lowa's recommendations....I will never again get a gtx lined boot, buttery soft sweet smelling leather is the way to go! If you were to use a waterproofing product such as a cream or spray, it would be "98%" waterproof. The advantage to having leather lined is the fit and breathe ability compared to GORE-TEX type fabrics.
