Product Info for NEMO Equipment Bugout Elite 12 x 12 Shelter

The Bugout series is a new category of shelters. These simple shelters consist of a well designed tarp with mesh walls that can either be stowed or easily dropped to offer instant no-see-um protection. String the tarp between two trees, paddles, or trekking poles, or use NEMO Equipment's adjustable height poles to create an escape from rain, bugs, or sun whether you are in the front yard or backcountry. A specially developed mesh with high water repellency protects against side blown rain and effortlessly sheds moisture when it's time to pack up.image

On a recent car camping trip, we raised the shelter over our picnic table, which allowed us dry meals as well as an area near the table to set up lounge chairs. We kept the mosquito netting rolled up because we didn't have bugs. Due to its size this is a lot of fabric and, for us, stuffing it in the bag didn't work. Used this tarp for leading backcountry canoe trips with school groups of 12 people, and it is life changing! Rainy evenings were more than pleasant with our cookstoves under the tarp, it gave a great place to escape from the bugs, set up was quick and simple, and the packability and weight was entirely reasonable.
