The Solitude is not waterproof, the seams are double sewn and factory taped however the body of the pack is only water resistant. It will shed water but only to a point. As far as a laptop goes, there is a pouch for a hydration bladder in the main compartment that could be used as a laptop sleeve but there is not a dedicated laptop sleeve.
