For La Sportiva a EU 40 would convert to a Men's US 7.5 and Women's US 8.5. The Men's US 7.5 is the same size as a Women's US 8.5, since you are looking at the Jeckyl VS in the men's category you should select the men's 7.5.

Also, EU sizes vary from brand to brand, so a EU 40 from one brand may not fit the same as another Eu 40 from a different brand.
