What does plus 7 mean and what does the removable bottom compartment do?

Thank you for your question. The plus 7 in the pack is the additional 7 liters that come from the top lid. The bottom compartment is not removable, just separately accessible which means you can keep that portion of the pack separate from the rest by tightening a draw string.
