I would like to know about the outer material. I do not want a balloon looking material that I feel would be easy to snag. I want a durable outside material.

100% Nylon Ripstop 1.0 oz/yd, that is the outer material to the Marmot Hailey Jacket. It will take a lot to snag this fabric. Thanks
