A snow fluke is a climbing tool, specifically an anchor. It is wedged into soft, moist snow, tip down, to anchor the climber in snowy conditions.

It's a snow anchor to assist in protection on steep terrain while mountaineering. You can find instructions on its use in mountaineering books or online instruction, but professional instruction is suggested before using it in dangerous situations. You could also use it as an expensive winter tent stake.
