How durable is the rubberized strap that goes under the boot? How does the length of the rubberized strap adjust? I could find no pictures of this.

The bottom strap is rubberized and abrasion resistant, so it should hold up well over time. It adjusts with a streamlined internal drawstring.

I would probably suggest a size Medium. However, you would probably be fine with either size.
