Great question! This is a poncho so it wont cover your arms as well as a jacket but will be easier to get on and cover more of your back.

How much does this weigh? What are its dimensions? Will it fit over a backpack?

Sierra Design does not provide sizing, but the product weight is ~10 oz. It could fit over backpacks depending on body size and pack size, but was not specifically designed for this purpose. Let us know if you have any additional questions.
